Temperatures in the high 50's brought many people out for a walk, bike or jog along the Duck Creek Recreation Trail in Devils Glen Park. The recent warm weather melted the foot of snow from early March and awakened the daffodil and tulip bulbs from their winter sleep.

New Bridgeview Elementary principal hired

The Pleasant Valley Board of Education has approved the hiring of Michele Barnes as the next principal for Bridgeview Elementary. The appointment will be effective July 1.

Ms. Barnes is completing her 31st year in education. She taught fourth grade for 15 years and has been an elementary principal for the past 16 years. She currently is principal of Okoboji Elementary in Milford, Iowa, a position she has held since 1995.

North Scott escapes in overtime


The North Scott Lancers (in red) escaped with an exciting 64-60 win in overtime Friday (Feb. 16) at Bettendorf. The Bulldogs led throughout the first half, but North Scott retook the lead in the second half and Bettendorf needed a last second 3-point shot from Brian Buckles to tie up the game in regulation. The Lancer defense and clutch free throws in overtime gave gave them the win and the conference championship. It is the first conference title in varsity boys basketball for the North Scott team.

New north Bettendorf development


The new Grove Park subdivision is taking shape south of Forest Grove Road near the Crow Valley Country Club. A gazebo provides visual interest to the turnaround of the development.
