The Pleasant Valley Spartans punched their ticket to the state boys basketball tournament Tuesday night (3/6) with a convincing 72-48 win over Burlington.
The Bettendorf boys basketball team rebounded from a dismal first quarter to post a 62-56 win Friday night (3/2) over the Clinton River Kings and advance in the Class 4A playoffs.
The Class of '81 will be holding its 20-year reunion October 12 and 13, 2001. We are planning to hold a pre-game tailgate gathering in the cafateria and courtyard of the High School with the class attending the varsity football game. After the game we will get together at a local establishment to be announced. Saturday afternoon class members and their families will have an opportunity to tour the high school. The Bettendorf Community Schools Foundation is having a event on Saturday, March 10th at the Isle of Capri Center. Cocktails will be available from a cash bar durring the silent auction starting at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a live auction and then dancing. All proceeds from the event benefit Bettendorf schools. Tickets are $40 per person. Some of the items up for auction include two reserved parking spaces at BHS, the use of the BHS planetarium for a day for a birthday party, and a condo for a week in Colorado. click here for more information.
The Smithsonian traveling exhibit, "Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe," opened February 24 at the Family Museum of Arts and Science, Bettendorf, drawing large numbers of visitors. The exhibit includes images from the telescope as well as interactive displays providing information about the planets and space.
