Pleasant Valley Special Olympics

Pleasant Valley Special Olympics Basketball team competed Saturday, January 15 at North Scott High School.

Katie Dlouhy, Jimmy Murray and Nick Gibson all competed in rebounding, shooting and dribbling. All three athletes took first place in their division.

Justin Raymond, Andrew Geneva, Andy German, Richie Plocher and Colin Fye competed in the team event. They took first in their division.


All athletes qualified for Special Olympics State Competition in March in Iowa City which will be
held at the University of Iowa. The athletes are coached by Stephanie Lindmark and Angie Musal.

On frozen pond

Recent cold temperatures have frozen over the Middle Park lagoon, matching the icy look of the metal geese sculptures on the pond's island.

Bettendorf Facility Advisory Committee minutes 1.4.05

The Facilities Advisory Council (FAC) met at the Ray Stensvad Administration Center on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 4:00 p.m.

Present: John Perdue, Scott Tinsman, Laura Dellos, Pat Eikenberry, Scott Tunnicliff, Tom Wirtz, Deb Roski, Tom Schuetz, Pat Mitchell, Jerry Sechser, Bonnie Fisher, Kevin Hatfield, John Campbell, Robin Olson, and Carrie Reed.

Absent: none

Also Present: Greg Gackle, a Jefferson parent, Maxine McEnany, Director of Business and Financial Services, Kathy Weigle, Board member, and Nancy Herrin, assistant to the superintendent.

The Facilities Advisory Council (FAC) met at Neil Armstrong Elementary School media center Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at 3:00 p.m.

Present: John Perdue, Pat Eikenberry, Scott Tunnicliff, Scott Tinsman, Laura Dellos, Tom Schuetz, Pat Mitchell, Jerry Sechser, Bonnie Fisher, Kevin Hatfield, Robin Olson, and Carrie Reed.

Absent: Glenn Pelecky (Tom Wirtz attended as an alternate), John Campbell, and Deb Roski.

Also Present: Greg Gackle, a Jefferson parent, and Nancy Herrin, assistant to thesuperintendent.

In a fog

Fog and rain create a fuzzy, drab landscape at Palmer Hills Golf Course, Bettendorf. After receiving more than a half foot of snow last week, warmer temperatures moved into the area creating thick fog and a thunderstorm with heavy rain.

Bulldogs overpower Davenport North Wildcats

Bettendorf center Mike Vandello makes an inbound pass to Jeff Bitter against Davenport North Friday (1/7). The Bulldogs, behind a season high 20 points by Andy Brooks (no. 32), overwhelmed the Wildcats 66-48. With the win, Bettendorf moved to 6-0 in the MAC. City rival Pleasant Valley also is 6-0 in the MAC and ranked 6th in the 4A poll, one notch behind Bettendorf. The two teams will meet for the first time this season Jan. 25 at Bettendorf.
