Both Bettendorf boys and girls teams defeated their Pleasant Valley counterparts January 17. The boys and girls doubleheader at Bettendorf packed the stands. Both games were close until the final minutes.

While the weather has been much warmer than normal, the swimming season is many months away. At least come spring, Splash Landing will once again be open after completion of the latest renovation work which includes a new filter system and pool structure.

Ice has begun forming on the Mississippi River shore, even though temperatures so far this winter have been very mild. The elegant I-74 Twin Bridge overlooks the Leach Park ducks along the shoreline.
