Unofficial Minutes of the December 6, 2004, Regular Meeting (Pending Board Approval)

1. Call to Order.

The Board of Directors of the Bettendorf Community School District, in the County of Scott, state of Iowa, met in open session according to Iowa law for their regular Board meeting at the Ray Stensvad Administration Center, 3311 Central Avenue, Bettendorf, Iowa, on December 6, 2004. President Anderson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the Board recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Lynne Lindstrom, Board Secretary, verified that the meeting notice had been posted and mailed to the media as required by law.

Bettendorf remains undefeated; beats Central 60-47

Bettendorf opened the MAC conference schedule with a 60-47 win over 10th ranked Davenport Central on the Blue Devils' home court Friday (12/10). The Bulldogs used the strong inside rebounding and defense of Mike Vandello, Jeff Bitter and Andy Brooks to offset the big front line of Central. The first poll of the season ranked Bettendorf fourth in 4A. After an strong opening win over Cedar Rapids Washington, the Bulldogs beat Dubuque Wahlert Tuesday (12/7). MEMBERS PRESENT: Regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Deborah Dayman. Members present: Barsness, Dayman, Hoffmann, Kaminski, Messman, O'Hara, Schurr. Absent: None. Bulldogs start season with win

Cedar Rapids Washington tries to score against Bettendorf in its home opener Friday (12/3). The Bulldogs held off Washington 57-53 in a physical well-played contest. Both Bettendorf and Washington are expected to be among the state-ranked teams in 4A when the first poll comes out this week.

Bettendorf ends perfect football season with state championship

Bettendorf football players converge onto the field to accept the state 4A championship trophy at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. The Bulldogs ended West Des Moines Valley's 30-game win streak and posted a perfect 13-0 season with a 34-22 win Friday (11/19). The Bulldogs got a stellar performance by quarterback Ryan Fick, who threw for more than 300 yards and four touchdowns. The tough Bulldog defense kept West Des Moines in check throughout the game. The Board of Directors of the Bettendorf Community School District, in the County of Scott, state of Iowa, met in open session according to Iowa law for their regular Board meeting at the Ray Stensvad Administration Center, 3311 Central Avenue, Bettendorf, Iowa, on November 15, 2004. In President Andersonís absence, Vice President Weigle called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the Board recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Lynne Lindstrom, Board Secretary, verified that the meeting notice had been posted and mailed to the media as required by law.

Members present: Directors Castro, Crockett, Ehrmann, Luton, Mayer, Weigle. Members absent: Director Anderson. Other officials present: John Perdue, Superintendent; Carol Webb, Assistant Superintendent; Maxine McEnany, Director of Business & Financial Celeste Reuter, Director of Communications; Joe Slavens, Board Treasurer; Erin Cavanaugh and Tim Holmes, Student Council Representatives; Lynne Lindstrom, Board Secretary.

Construction continues at Duck Creek


The walls of the new Schnucks Supermarket take shape at Duck Creek Plaza, Bettendorf. In addition to the new grocery store, the first Starbucks in the Quad Cities area will open at the plaza in the coming months. At left is the new McDonalds, and at right the new Marshalls.
