Two "Meet at the Creek - Caring for the Duck Creek Watershed" programs are scheduled Tuesday (April 29) and Thursday (May 1) to provide the public with information on how to work together to improve water quality in Duck Creek and other creeks within the Duck Creek Watershed.
The first session Tuesday will be at 6:30 p.m. at Marquette Park, 3200 N. Marquette St., Davenport. The meeting Thursday will be at 6:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park (Middle Park, east of 23rd St.), 1645 23rd St.
This week is Iowa Soil and Water Conservation Week, and to celebrate, Partners of Scott County Watersheds and Scott County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) are hosting the events for the public to learn more about how to help improve the Duck Creek Watershed.
The sessions will provide information on how Scott County residents are working together to improve the watershed and how homeowners can make a difference in controlling storm water runoff with landscaping practices like rain gardens, permeable paving, native planting and soil quality restoration.
The Scott County Soil and Water Conservation office currently offer financial ssistance for landscaping practices that help improve the watershed management.
