A female tiger swallowtail butterfly (Papilio glaucas) feeds on the nectar of a hyssop flower.

Eastern carpenter bees (Xylocopa virginica) feast on the flowers of a bee balm (Wild Bergamot) plant in the late afternoon sunshine.

The lime pile removal project has been started again, with another company stepping in to remove the pile. From the progress they are making, it looks like they may get it done.

The work being done on the Tanglefoot extention appears to have stopped for the time being. A pair of geese are enjoying a small pond created by recent rains near Devils Glen road.

PV boys fall short in state tourney

The Pleasant Valley Spartans' fine season came to an abrupt end in the first round of the 4A boys state basketball playoffs, losing 55-48 to Iowa City High.

The Spartans trailed throughout the contest, but got as close as three in the final period. Tom Anthony led the Spartans with 20 points, Seth Hamilton scored 14 and center Eric Heil had 8.
