The Bi-State Planning Commission is updating its long-range transportation plan for the Quad Cities region and you can add your comments to the process by filling out a survey form and emailing it to the agency.
Two public hearings already have been held, but comments will be accepted until May 30. Click here to download a transportation survey form.
In preparation for updating the long range Bi-State transit plan, the agency conducted a survey of residents last summer. Click to download the survey.
Somewhat surprisingly, "better bike and pedestrian facilities" was cited by survey respondents as a top priority for improvement (34 percent) in the next 10 years. "Improved access to transit and private providers (taxi service)" received a 14 percent response, "repair and replace bridges" was cited by 12 percent of the respondents and "better intercity rail transportation" received an 11 percent response.
The three biggest transportation problems were, by number of survey respondents: bridge congestion (20 percent); lack of bike/pedestrian facilities (15 percent); traffic congestion at specific locations (15 percent); lack of public transit/private providers (12 percent); and poor pavement conditions (10 percent).
