The girls basketball team started off the season slowly, but recent play has the Bulldogs looking forward with confidence to the playoffs.
A tough loss to sixth-ranked Davenport West (41-39) was a positive sign despite the defeat.
Tough defense by Colleen Porter and Jenny Eisenlauer nearly enabled the Bulldogs to upset the highly rated Falcons. Eisenlauer held Westís standout senior, Tracy Paustian, to only 13 points, most coming on freethrows in the second half.
The 'dogs also fell to 20th ranked Clinton at home in overtime (54-52) in their last regular season game. Erin Riley led the 'dogs with 17 points and was 4-for-4 from the freethrow line.
