McDonald's hopes to build a third restaurant in Bettendorf, this one along the 53rd Avenue corridor west of 18th Street.
A special use permit to allow a drive-up window for the fast-food outlet is scheduled for a public hearing Thursday (3/10) before the city's Board of Adjustment.
According to information filed with the city, the developer has met with neighbors to discuss the project and has agreed to provide a setback of greenspace greater than required by city ordinance and a fence to buffer the facility from neighbors.
The commercially zoned land on the southwest and southeast corners of 53rd Avenue and 18th Street abuts residential properties, and has created conflict in the past over development in the area.
The new proposed McDonald's would front 53rd Avenue, but access would be off of Falcon Avenue.
If the restaurant receives approval of the drive-through, it would then have to obtain approval of a site development plan from the Planning and Zoning Commission and the city council.
The current McDonald's are along Middle Road at Duck Creek Plaza and between State and Grant near 26th Street.
