Run with Carl coming September 3

Now in its 9th year, the annual Run with Carl is rapidly becoming a Labor Day tradition in the Quad City area.

The event is dedicated to the memory of Carl D. Schillig, a Pleasant Valley High School student who died in 1994 from a car/pedestrian accident.

Carl was involved in a variety of activities including running.

Proceeds from the event fund a memorial scholarship awarded to graduates of Pleasant Valley and Bettendorf High
Schools.

Four events are held on Labor Day: a 1-mile fun run for children to age 12, a 5-mile run, a 5-mile skaterace, and a 5K run/walk.

All events start and finish at the Bettendorf Life Fitness Center, 2222 Middle Rd.

Additional information on the run, including registration and information on the college scholarship is available from www.runwithcarl.com or by calling 563-332-2200.
